Senior Advisor
Your experience could change someone's life. As a Senior Advisor, you'll help people who are stressed and stuck find a way through, and you'll see your clients and case files through from the first conversation to resolution. At its heart, this role is about people, not numbers, tax or debt. It's senior because of the judgement and ownership it asks of you, not because you need to have done this work before. Join our advisory team in Milsons Point, Sydney, at an established and growing firm in an emerging specialty.
About the role
You'll be the main point of contact for clients going through a genuinely stressful time, understanding their circumstances in detail and building the trust that makes a good outcome possible. From there, the approach is yours to shape: developing a tailored plan for each client, then negotiating directly with the ATO on their behalf to secure terms that are actually sustainable, not just technically agreed to.
Day to day, that means:
- Running client consultations and building rapport through genuine empathy, not a script.
- Developing and executing negotiation strategy, case by case.
- Managing the full process end to end, including drafting applications to the ATO, with documentation gathered, reviewed and submitted on time and minimal need for oversight.
- Keeping clients properly informed, so they feel supported rather than left guessing.
- Staying current on ATO guidelines and internal policy, and making sure every file complies with them.
- Maintaining accurate records and reporting clearly to management on where each case stands.
About you
You're someone who takes a case file and drives it forward. You don't wait to be told the next step. You bring sound commercial judgement and a genuine track record in negotiation, and you're comfortable holding your own in a difficult conversation and adjusting your approach as it moves. You also bring strong drafting skills and real attention to detail, because the documentation has to be right, not just eventually correct.
You communicate clearly, in writing and verbally, including with the ATO. You stay level-headed under pressure, and you think strategically rather than reactively when a conversation gets difficult.
This role is based in our Milsons Point office in Sydney, on a hybrid basis, so you'll need to be able to work from the office 3 days a week.
A degree and a demonstrated record of professional development are expected.
Make a career out of making a difference
Whatever your background, you can keep the skills you've built and leave the grind behind. At Tax Assure, you use your commercial acumen and communication skills in a workplace that's balanced and built around the team and the outcomes.
Maybe you're a lawyer who's had enough of high-pressure deadlines. Maybe you're an accountant who wants more conversation and less compliance. Or you've worked in insurance claims, banking or collections, and you already know how to sit across from someone on a bad day.
You won't be doing this on your own. You'll work in the office alongside our directors, in an advisory team that deals with people face to face. We'll fast-track you to specialist negotiator and walk you through the legal practice statements and negotiation strategies. From day one, experienced people are in the room with you for the real conversations.
Why join Tax Assure?
You'll be working in a genuinely specialist field, one that's still emerging in Australia, at an established and growing firm that people already think of first in this space. We're actively recruiting for this role and reviewing applications as they come in, so please submit yours as soon as you can rather than waiting for the closing date.
Applicants must have full working rights in Australia. Tax Assure is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds.
